Here is the golden figure of Helios just after he arrived in the Hall Conservation workshop.
Helios is a piece of broadcasting history and for decades has stood watch over the round courtyard at BBC Television Centre in White City, London. He was designed by T.B. Huxley-Jones. Helios, the Greek god of the sun, was chosen to represent the radiation of television reaching potential viewers all around the world.
Helios was at Hall Conservation for restoration treatment before he returned to his old home currently being turned into residential units. The two close up shots show areas of damage to the surface. Work on Helios will be described in future project posts.
