Our own Brian Hall will be speaking at a NHIG seminar on Friday 21st June at the Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron.
The one day seminar (9:30am – 4:30pm) will explore various aspects of the making, forming, and repair of cast iron including:
History of iron making: how pig iron becomes ‘wrought’ or ‘cast’; different types of furnaces; technical progression.
Pattern Making: types of patterns and how they work; things to think about when designing / specifying.
Products: overview of Coalbrookdale castings, from kitchenware to industrial applications
Repair of cast iron; different techniques & problem solving
Brian will speak at 3:50pm on “Case Study: Warrington Golden Gates.”
The cost of the day is £85 (£40 to students) and tickets are bookable via the www.nhig.org.uk website.
Should be an informative and entertaining day in a beautiful and historic setting.
